Mrs. Margaret McCoy
I am extremely happy to be joining the staff of BCA as your new Principal. I am very passionate about Christian education, and look forward to partnering with you in the continued academic and spiritual growth of your children. My undergraduate degree is in elementary education, and my Master’s from the University of Dayton is in education, with minors in music from both schools.
Before coming to BCA, I taught for eight years at the elementary level, and also served as Principal at two different Christian schools for eight more years. I have four children, and have always loved the fall of the year. Reading, outdoor education, travel, and family outings are what I love doing in my spare time.
My husband and I attend Grace Fellowship and meet regularly in a small group. There are wonderful, Christian people everywhere, and I believe every person that God brings into our lives is a divine appointment. I feel very blessed to be getting to know the staff and students at Brice Christian Academy, and look forward to the years ahead!
My life’s verse is Deuteronomy 33:27—-“The eternal God is our refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms…” In these sometimes difficult times, we can all rest in this promise!! I look forward to what God has planned for BCA this year, and pledge to do my best for His glory.

Mrs. Cara Shannon
Years at BCA: Mrs. Shannon began teaching at BCA in 2015. She attended school at BCA as a student from kindergarten through sixth grade.
Qualifications: Mrs. Shannon earned her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Ohio University. She is licensed to teach first through third grade.
Christian Testimony: I asked Jesus to come into my heart when I was in second grade at Brice Christian Academy as a student! (In the very classroom I am teaching in!) Ever since that day I have been on a constant walk with my LORD and Savior. I am so thankful that God made me to be a teacher, and I am so blessed that I get the honor of sharing His Word with His children.
Philosophy of Christian Education: I believe that each student is a miracle that God has created. I believe that it is my job as a Christian educator to “plant a seed” in their heart, and help them find love for the LORD. One of my favorite Bible verses is: “Teach a child to choose the right path, and when he is older, he will remain upon it.” -Proverbs 22:6
Personal Life: I was married in May 2016 to my wonderful, loving husband, Austin. We have lots of new changes we are making including searching for a new house! We attend Brice United Methodist Church and Freewill Baptist Church. We are enjoying newly married life, and working together as a team with God through all of our ups and downs!
Mrs. Nancy Neal
Years at BCA: This will be my second year at BCA.
Qualifications: Master of Teaching degree from the University of Virginia—Go Wahoos! I began my career by teaching 4th and 5th grade. After staying home with my children, I gained even more experience through long-term substituting in preschool, a 3rd grade gifted program, and many other elementary classrooms.
Christian Testimony: I am very thankful that I grew up with Christian parents and friends. I asked Jesus to be my Savior at a young age. He is very patient with me and continues to pull my heart toward missions and children’s education. Ask me about my trip to Macedonia sometime.
Philosophy of Education: My desire is to equip my students to read and understand their Bibles so they can know, love, and serve our great God. In addition to this foundational goal, I strive to inspire students to love learning which will enable them to succeed with the gifts God has given them.
Personal Life: I live in Granville with my family. My husband teaches Math and my kids are both in high school this year. We enjoy board games, video games, traveling, reading and participating in the life of our church, The Granville Chapel.
Mrs. Marlene Carney

Christian Testimony: I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Savior in 1978. By reaching to the Holy Spirit, He guides me daily and influences my direction in life.
Philosophy of Christian Education: I believe that each and every child in our classroom is a miraculous gift from God. It is our mission to instill Biblical teachings in all areas of the curriculum. I believe we must reach each child and inspire him/her to maximize their potential as Jesus has taught us to do while we are His stewards on earth.
Personal Life: Mrs. Carney is the proud mother of Brent, who is a college student. Her son attended the BCA from Kindergarten through the 6th grade. The Carneys are members of Peace United Methodist Church in Pickerington.
Mrs. Laurie Bruckner, K-8th Music and Band Teacher
I am delighted to join the faculty at BCA as music teacher! The most important thing about me is that I am a child of God. I became a member of God’s family when I accepted Christ as my Savior, having my sin forgiven and beginning a new and everlasting life in me, when I was a little girl. The Lord has continued to direct my life, helping me grow in faith and joy in Him throughout the amazing course of life He has led me through.
As a music teacher I have taught in both public and private schools from Kindergarten to college, including schools in both the US and abroad. I have been blessed to be a part of church families rich in years of heritage and also new church plants, of churches with brothers and sisters in Christ of status and prosperity as well as refugees and those recovering from lives of addictions and struggle.
Our family has recently moved to the Columbus area and we love being a part of the New Life Community Church in Canal Winchester, where I have recently joined the musical worship team.
My most loved hobbies these days are watching my children in their activities. My husband of 21 years and I have three teenaged children, so our evenings are full of lessons, events and social gatherings. A favorite way to contribute to the fun for me is cooking and baking.
I am a graduate of Nyack College with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, and The University of Akron, with a Master’s in Music Ed. I look forward to teaching the students here at BCA to grow in knowledge, wisdom and faith through music!

I am proud to have been associated in some capacity with Brice Christian Academy since 1995. Both of my children went to Brice Preschool and the BCA for their elementary years. I have been the church secretary, hospitality minister, the school janitor and finally the Lunchroom Supervisor.
I love spending time with the children at breakfast and lunch. I have worked very hard to incorporate the government guidelines in school nutrition while also trying to prepare foods that I know the students will enjoy (or at least try once). I look at the time during lunch as a continuation of their academic growth. They learn what healthy portion sizes are and also experience a variety of good food choices.
